Who is Chiropractic For?

Chiropractic is for everyone! With today's growing health awareness toward prevention and wellness, chiropractic is playing an integral role in maintaining and improving one's health and vitality. From birth to seniors, the importance of maintaining a healthy nervous system is imperative to creating 100% health within the body. In addition,Ê research has shown that anyone who suffers from recurring symptoms, such as ear infections, neck or back pain, headaches, stomach upset, menstrual cramps, asthma, insomnia, or any number of similar problems can benefit from specific chiropractic adjustments. Chiropractic is a health care profession dedicated to the maintenance and restoration of a healthy, aligned, and uncompromised nervous system, which produces a healthy body. Just as you would visit a dentist for a checkup to keep a small problem from growing into a serious problem, regular visits to the Chiropractor can maintain proper health and prevent problems before they progress into disease.

SubluxationWhat is Subluxation?

Vertebral subluxation is a misalignment of one or more spinal vertebrae which interferes with the spinal cord and/or spinal nerves. Such subluxations are caused by physical, mental, and chemical stress. The purpose of the nervous system is to control and coordinate the function of every system, organ, tissue and cell in the body, thus maintaining a 100% state of health and well-being. The nervous system is responsible for sending messages to and from your brain, keeping communication open between the "boss" (your brain) and all of the hard workers (your body and its systems). A subluxation can alter or prevent the flow of impulses from the brain to the rest of your body. Over a period of time, vertebral subluxation can cause the degradation of health because it prevents your body and its various systems (nervous, respiratory, circulatory, digestive, immune, etc.) from performing at their best. Chiropractors correct Vertebral Subluxations by delivering a safe, gentle and specific motion known as a chiropractic adjustment.

What can cause vertebral subluxation?

The body endures a number of stresses that can cause Vertebral Subluxations. These stresses create a state of "disease" in the nervous system, thus effecting the vitality of the body. These stresses fall into three general categories, Physical, Chemical, and Emotional.

Physical Stresses include:

  • The Birth Process
  • Posture
  • Sports
  • Accidents and Injuries

Chemical Stresses include:

  • Drugs
  • Hormonal/Prescriptions
  • Environmental Toxins

Emotional Stress Causes physiologic changes in the body that effect the nervous system. Such stress may include:

  • Loss of a loved one
  • Finances
  • Employment
  • Relationships

Can children benefit from chiropractic care?

Especially For Kids, Absolutely!

The spinal cord is the body's lifeline, and direct stress to the spine can cause a vertebral subluxation and prevent the body from performing optimally. From birth, babies fight an uphill battle. The traditional western birthing procedures put harsh stress on the spinal cord, especially the fragile bones of the neck which protect the brain stem. As babies grow, childhood activities can cause spinal misalignment and vertebral subluxations. From infants to young kids to growing adolescents, all children can benefit from specific chiropractic care to keep their nervous system working at 100%, thus producing optimal health.

Can the birth process cause subluxation?

Chiropractic has proven research that shows that the very first subluxation may be caused by the birth process. Dr. Abraham Towbin, M.D. from the Department of Neuropathology, Harvard Medical School and the Department of Pathology (Neonatology); St. Margaret's Hospital, Boston, after conducting research on infants, came to the following conclusions:

1) That the cause of crib death could be traced in most cases to damage done to the spinal cord under orthodox birthing procedures.

2) That Sudden Infant Death could also be traced to spinal cord or brain stem damage at birth or shortly thereafter.

3) That due to direct trauma (including vertebral subluxation) at birth, a child may experience malfunction, less than optimum behavior, and a drastically reduced life span.

4) Most of these problems could be avoided with an increased sensitivity to the human birth process.
